Year-RoundGet ready to paddle, peddle and run your way to the finish line at the Rochester Eco-Tri! A fun event consisting of a 4.5 mile Kayak race (rentals available), 8 mile mountain bike race, and a 3 mile trail run.
•4.5 Mile Kayak - 7 Mile Mountain Bike - 3.1 Mile Trail Run
•Sunday, August 14th, 2011 - 9AM
•20 Minutes North of Rochester, MN at Camp Victory
The 4.5 mile kayak section begins in front of "Fisherman's Inn" on beautiful Lake Zumbro, about 10 minutes North of Rochester, MN. where racers will kayak across the 3.5 mile lake. Upon reaching the end of the lake there is a small portage required to get below the dam (Racers will have to carry their own boats approximately 50 yards down a trail to the river).
The kayak section continues one mile down river to the first transition point located at Camp Victory. Here racers will leave their kayaks and jump on their bikes for a challenging 7 mile mountain bike race through the wooded forests of beautiful Camp Victory.
Plenty of elevation changes, and a variety of terrain to ride on will make this a memorable section. Strength and endurance will be the key here, you will not need to be an advanced mountain biker to be competitive, there will be no "technical" sections to this course. Terrain will consist of grass, dirt, mud, rocks and/or whatever you might find on a typical off-road trail.
The bike section will loop around to it's completion at the main transition point where racers will hop off their bikes, don their running shoes and hit the trails again...on foot! Runners will be challenged with a variety of terrain and elevation changes as they navigate the scenic trails of Camp Victory once again. Runners will be treated to the stunning forest scenery, river views and overlooks the Zumbro River Valley offers. This final section is 3 miles long and will complete the race.
