Celebrate Valentine’s Day the old fashioned way—enjoying classic poems of the 19th century in the elegant drawing room of the James J. Hill House. Actors Craig Johnson, Laura Salveson, and Ann Daly, wearing 1890s eveningwear, perform a wide range of humorous and stirring poems by Emily Dickinson, Poe, Longfellow, Browning, etc. dealing with love, romance, temperance, sports, and war—even poems about James J. Hill! The one-hour program will be followed by light refreshments and tours of the Hill House. In addition to pieces performed by the actors, audience members are invited to bring a short Victorian poem to read or recite--opportunities for 8-10 audience poems to be heard throughout the evening. 7 p.m.
