Enter the prairie of North Dakota and imagine breaking up the land. In this presentation by Steve Stark, he will talk about the families of Comstock and Probstfield. Both families came to the prairies of North Dakota and became the families that would play the pivotal roles in foraging the communities that we know today. Learn how these hardworking homesteaders achieved the American Dream in Clay County. Steve Stark will present on Pioneer Power Couples of Clay County at 1 pm at the Hjemkomst Center, 202 1st Ave. N. in Moorhead. Stark’s presentation will begin downstairs in the old Clay County history museum gallery. The presentation will run about 60-75 minutes and is appropriate to first-graders on up. The program is free and open to the public; however, regular admission rates to see the museum and exhibits still apply.

Steve Stark is an award-winning cartoonist and historical performer from Fargo. He
is currently a North Dakota Council on the Arts Artist-in-Residence and a past North
Dakota Humanities Council Traveling Scholar through the North Dakota Humanities
Council. He has been presenting illustrated history programs and Chautauqua-style
school programs for nearly two decades.

History Sundays with Steve Stark was funded in apart by the North Dakota Humanities
Council, a nonprofit, independent state partner of the National Endowment of the
Humanities.
