MNOC is hosting a Tri-Orienteering event as part of the City of Lakes Tri Loppet Festival at the Basset Creek area of Theodore Wirth Park. Day of event registration will be available at 11:00 am, and courses will be open to participants between 11:30 am - 2:00 pm.
The Tri-Orienteering event is a running race where participants use a map and compass to navigate through the woods, locating “controls” (check points) placed along the course from start to finish. An electronic punch system will be used and results posted at www.mnoc.org after the event.
There will be a long 2.5k course (intermediate), a short 1k “Tri-it” course (beginner), and a course just for kids. Novice and experienced athletes are encouraged to participate.
MNOC volunteers will be holding short “learn how” sessions before racers embark on the trails. Maps will be provided, and compasses will be available to rent for $1.
Registration: Loppet website, $15 until June 26, $20 after that date, $20 day of the event http://www.loppet.org/triloppet/register
