Catherine, a troubled young woman, is dealing with her own emotions following the death of her father, a famous, but unstable mathematician, whom she took care of for years. On the weekend of her 25th birthday, she finds herself caught between the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire, and one of her father’s former students, Hal, who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks her father left behind. Before the weekend is over, Catherine will try to discover the answer to her most difficult problem: how much of her father’s madness, or genius, will she inherit? Winner of the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award for Best Play.
