Larry Simonson Was Committed to Tourism Industry
Release Date: Nov 27, 2012
Larry Simonson, long-time tourism extension specialist with the University of Minnesota, passed away on Sunday. Over the years he became very well-known across the state, putting on many road miles to deliver a workshop or talk on any number of subjects from customer service to "Managing Small Resorts for Profit". Most notably, he was instrumental in creating the University's Tourism Center and worked tirelessly in helping to create the Carlson Chair for Travel, Tourism and Hospitality. Initiated in the mid-1980s and fiscally cemented in 1995, the Carlson Chair has been used to support a variety of research and education efforts across Minnesota.
