Many Events Offered in Conjunction with the 2013 Tourism Conference

The 2013 Explore Minnesota Tourism Conference and its many pre-conference activities make the week of February 11, 2013 the week to be in Minneapolis – Saint Paul. The conference dates are February 12-13, but several optional events are planned before and after the conference this year.
Hospitality & Tourism Day at the Capitol will be Monday, February 11 this year. This is a great time to meet your legislators and talk about the economic benefits of tourism to your business and community. Meet Minneapolis is also offering a Social Media Learning Lab from 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 11 at the Hilton, Minneapolis. Facilitators with special knowledge about each social media platform will host tables and lead discussions about Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, QR codes and YouTube. Participants at all experience levels will learn from each other through these discussions of best practices. In addition to the seminar, dinner is planned at Brit's Pub, a popular tavern and restaurant near the hotel. The cost for this event is an additional $35. An important topic for Minnesota tourism is the issue of invasive species. The University of Minnesota Tourism Center brings their expertise on this topic to those attending the conference when they offer a seminar on Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 a.m., "Managing Invasive Species: Strategies and Solutions for Tourism Land Owners and Managers." The seminar is $10 (a correction from earlier), and a continental breakfast will be served. Other pre/post conference meetings include Minnesota Association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus meeting at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12; "Making the Most of Explore Minnesota Tourism Opportunities" at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday and the Explore Minnesota Tourism International Marketing meeting on Wednesday, February 13 immediately following the close of the conference at 3:00 p.m.
