  • Whitewater Kayaking - The Lower St. Louis River, The Lester River, Amity Creek, Sucker Creek, The Split Rock River, The Devil Track River and The Cascade River

Whitewater kayaking in Minnesota has been a well-kept secret. Big drops in elevation are not all that expected in prairie states. Minnesota is not mountainous, but it has some of the most exciting and intense rivers in the country. Paddlers can indulge in the extreme, or they can just get out and enjoy the camaraderie of good friends and have fun paddling. I used to dislike summer for its heat. After learning how to paddle---I grew to love summer. Whitewater paddlers never get hot when we're wet on the rivers.

  • Mountain Biking - Lebanon Hills, Theodore Wirth and Mammoth

I first mountain biked while living in Chile, South America. When I returned to Minnesota, I thought that, without mountains, there'd be no "real" mountain biking. I was very mistaken. There are great trails around the Twin Cities themselves, with obstacles and a maze of trails varying in difficulty. There are many trails around Duluth and the rest of the state as well. Check with Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists [MORC (http://www.morcmtb.org/)] about trails where you want to ride. Spin those wheels and have some fun!

  • Kiteboarding - Lake Mille Lacs, Lake Waconia and White Bear Lake

WOW!!! This is a sport for those who like a rush. There's speed, there's flying and jumping. There's acrobatics, like aerial spins and flips. There's the feel of riding the wind like a sail or soaring like a bird. As a water sport, you stay cool while playing hard and having a blast. There's nothing like it! Minnesota KICKS with action on the winds---surprisingly all year! You can ride the wind on the water or on skis or a snowboard in the snow on a frozen lake or in open fields in winter. You just need some wind for a bit o' fun.

  • Rock Climbing - Taylors Falls, Palisade Head and Shovel Point

Rock climbing is a sport of strength, stamina and concentration. Can you cut it on the cliffs along the lake? Can you hold your own on the bluffs along the river? There are many places in Minnesota to test your "grit". Check it and see. Reach for new heights. Have fun "getting high!"

Dan Monskey

I'm Dan Monskey. Minnesota has been my home most of my life. I'm currently in the process of developing an adventure sport television program. So, what I'm looking for is action. I've traveled all over the world seeking excitement. World-class adventure can be found right outside our backdoor here in Minnesota. Many people are surprised when they discover what special interesting & exciting treasures there are to find right here in our state. We are lucky enough to have four great distinct seasons to keep a wide variety of activities available. Here are a few of my favorites.
