Whether you're just starting out or have been canoeing for years, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) makes the perfect escape. Located along the Minnesota-Canadian border, the BWCA is the only designated canoe wilderness area in northern America, with millions of acres of lakes and streams, interconnected by portages.
Boundary Waters canoe outfitters offer all the equipment and advice you need to make your Minnesota wilderness experience comfortable, safe, and rewarding.
In season, many of these same suppliers are deer hunting outfitters. In addition, camping outfitters serve rivers throughout Minnesota, including six designated wild and scenic routes.
In the winter, outfitters arrange guided trips deep into the northern wilderness by dog sled, cross-country ski and snowshoe.
Dog sledding is quickly becoming a popular snow sport, and not just among mushers with their own teams of sled dogs.
There's nowhere else on earth like it.
Situated within Superior National Forest in northeastern Minnesota, the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) is a vast preserve of lakes and woods that stretches for about 100 miles along the U.S. border with Canada.
