Open:
Year-RoundTwo loops. Scenic overlooks and lakes, rocky ridges and areas with large pines. 3 campsites near trails. Small waterfall. Choice of hiking distances from 2 to 6 miles.Also a portage trail for the first 3/4 miles. The trail to the lake has been re-designed so that it is wider, more gentle slope, no tripping hazards, and a firmer surface. Unique geological history described on interpretive sign. Handout available from Forest Service offices.

: Superior National Forest/Kawishiwi District Office: open May 1 to Sept. 1, from 7 am to 5:00 pm, Labor Day to Sept. 30 from 8 to 4:30, 7 days a week. Open the rest of the year from 8 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Take Hwy 169 East through Ely. Forest Service office is just out of town on north side of hwy. Continue to County Road 88 a quarter mile past FS office. Turn left on 88 to County Road 116 (Echo Trail). Turn right(north)on 116 to Bass Lake Parking lot
