Year-RoundNearly 1,000 acres in the heart of rice County's lake country west of Faribault. The variety of habitats attracts an array of species for wildlife enthusiasts. The wildlife area is divided between two separate units. Rainbow Island subunit is located between General Shields Lake and Little Mud Lake. Its name reflects the colorful fall display exhibited by the maple, basswood and oak forests. The main unit is located along the Cannon river and the west shore of General Shields Lake.
