Year-RoundThe tallgrass prairie and wet meadow of the Tympanuchus WMA offers great opportunity to view a variety of prairie birds including the Greater Prairie Chicken, Sharp-tailed Grouse, Upland Sandpiper, Marbled Godwit, Northern Harrier, Short-eared Owl, Bobolink, Western Meadowlark, and various prairie sparrows. Songbirds such as the Yellow Warbler and Common Yellowthroat use the larger brush/asen thickets found along intermittent streams.

: WMA is open year round to the public. Best birding opportunities are April through August for migratory birds. Prairie chickens use the WMA all year. WMA is open to public hunting.
