Minnesota has hundreds of golf courses, and probably at least that many unique golf holes. Here are ten of the most unique at various courses around the state.

  1. Alexandria Golf Club has three greens in the shape of states: Minnesota #7, Oklahoma #8 and Texas #17. www.alexandriagolfclub.com
  2. Warroad Estates, a course that routes along Lake of the Woods, has a Minnesota-shaped green on its #9 hole. www.warroadestates.com
  3. Baker National, Medina, one of the Three Rivers Park District's courses, has a lovely red barn that is in play on the first hole. www.bakernational.com
  4. Stoneridge Golf Club, Stillwater, is another golf course with a "barn hole." It's on the third hole and players have the option of hitting over, around or through it! www.stoneridgegc.com
  5. Highland National in St. Paul sports a Snoopy bunker on #15, a testimonial to St. Paul native Charles M. Schulz, creator of the comic strip. www.golfstpaul.org
  6. The Legend at Giants Ridge, Biwabik, has a 'giant's footprint' on its third fairway. (see photo) www.giantsridge.com
  7. Black Bear GC, Carlton, has a "bear paw footprint" on its par 5 signature hole #7. www.blackbeargolfcomplex.com
  8. At Stonebrooke Golf Club's 8th hole in Shakopee, players get a ferry ride from the tee-box across the lake to the landing area. www.stonebrooke.com
  9. Pine Beach East at Maddens Resort on Gull Lake in Brainerd has the only par 6 in Minnesota. www.maddens.com
