People here will take the time to share with you information about the services that we have to offer, the historic treasures that are available to visit, the festival and events that are coming up, or the abundance of nature and all it has to offer. We are also known for our world class fishing and hunting. Our rivers are perfect for canoeing and kayaking for all skill levels. Biking around our area is also a favorite while meandering around the river valley scenic byways and prairie areas.

We are proud of our excellent educational system, the newer hospital and medical complex being constructed, a Veterans Clinic, and an industrial and manufacturing base that has continued to grow both in size and in technology every year. We are eager to share that our retail base is expanding and our Main Street is alive with new businesses. And after an 11 year journey, in 2019, we will break ground on a new Minnesota Veterans Home!

Individuals will quickly point out where movie scenes were filmed for "Sweet Land", or where you can meet and purchase the art of award winning artisans, or where you can buy the best organic fruit and vegetables in the region.

Our community members do this not just because of pride in what we have, but in the knowledge that Montevideo is not just another city in southwestern Minnesota. From the history that brought us here to the commitment to community and growth that will take us into the future, Montevideo truly stands apart. We are unique.
