About

The Minnesota 4-Wheel Drive Association is pleased to open registration for our annual Spring Convention! As always, this is a fundraising event meant to bring the members of the MN4WDA together to enjoy some off-roading. It will be held over the weekend of May 6-8 at the Sherwood Forest Campground, the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Area, and the Gilbert Ice Arena. Wheeling will be available during regular park hours, and all vehicles regularly welcomed at the park will be allowed. For more information about the IROHVSRA, please visit the park’s page on the DNR’s website.

On Friday evening, registration will be open at the pavilion at Sherwood Forest campground. At this time, you’ll be able to pick up pre-ordered merchandise, purchase raffle tickets, purchase score cards for Saturday’s poker run, and enjoy a community bonfire.

On Saturday morning, join us at the pavilion across the bridge inside the park. Registration will be open from 8-10 AM, and during this time, you’ll be able to purchase raffle tickets and poker run score cards.

New this year, we’ll be hosting a poker run inside the Gilbert IROHVRA park! The poker run will begin at 9 AM on Saturday. Score cards will be available for $5 each, and there is no limit to how many cards an individual can purchase. There will be two vehicle classes based on tire size, each of which have 12 trails to be completed. To fill out the score card, you must complete the trail or break attempting to do so. At each trail, there will be a marker to place on your card once you’ve completed the trail. When you turn your score card in, you will receive one playing card for each trail completed. Combine your playing cards to make the best hand you can, and the 5 best hands will compete in a round of live poker at the end of the evening for trophies and cash prizes! For a sample of the scorecard and to see the full rules, click here.

For dinner this year, we’re switching things up a bit. We’ll be hosting happy hour in the Ice Arena with sponsors and MN4WDA business associates on Saturday evening. Come to the ice arena, get to know the owners of local offroad businesses that support the MN4WDA, and learn about their products and services. We may also have a few special guests with information about our newest projects and our legislative happenings. Instead of a formal sit-down dinner, we’ll be doing things buffet style. Come whenever and stay till whenever! A delicious meal will be served by the Ladies Auxiliary of Gilbert. Merchandise and raffle tickets will be available during this time. You will also be able to turn in your poker run score card and receive your playing cards.

As always, there will be a variety of fabulous door prizes available, which have been proudly donated from our business associate members, MN4WDA clubs, and offroad product manufacturers. In years past, we’ve received door prizes from Iron Rock Offroad, Warn, Ouverson Engineering and Machine, Rough Country, Rugged Ridge, ARB, Bubba Rope, and many more. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase throughout the weekend, and will be for sale up until names are drawn.

Adult tickets will be available for $50 each and children’s tickets (under 16) will be available for $10 each. We will also have merchandise available for preorder in sizes S-3XL. Camping is available at several local campgrounds, including Sherwood Forest and West 40. The MN4WDA does not have the entire campground reserved, and you must call or go online to book your own site. Off-site lodging is available at several hotels in Gilbert and Eveleth, and must be booked by you. The MN4WDA will not arrange lodging of any kind.

The MN4WDA officers hope you can join us this year for a wonderful convention in Gilbert. We ask that you please preregister to make our planning easier and to make the event run smoothly. With any questions, concerns, or issues, please contact us using the “Contact Us” form on our website. If you would like to make a donation to the raffle prizes, please contact [email protected] so we can advertise your item(s) and give credit to the donating parties. If yourself or your club is bringing items for raffle prizes on the day of the event, they can be given to the individuals volunteering at registration.
