About
Making her debut with the
SPCO is Russian-born violinist Alina Ibragimova. Performing music from Baroque
to new commissions, on both modern and period instruments, Ibragimova plays
with an “immediacy and honesty” that has the “ability to collapse any sense of
distance between performer and listener” (“Guardian UK”). It is
guaranteed that Ibragimova’s interpretation of Ludwig van Beethoven’s
masterpiece will be fresh and unique.
Arnold Schoenberg takes
concertgoers on a darkly fantastic adventure with his Second Chamber Symphony.
He began composing the work as early as 1906 but didn’t complete it until
thirty years later. Though Schoenberg is known for developing the “twelve-tone”
system, this work harkens back to the composer’s warm Romantic style.
