These three
Midwestern artists represent a range of experience, technique, and firing
method. Caufield celebrates the everyday—and special occasion—with his
elevated dinnerware collections; Franke’s sublime treatment of form,
decoration, and firing method is practical, yet softly perfect; Rolf never
fails to introduce strong forms with soft-to-the-touch glazes that evoke an
appreciation for the history of clay on the dining table. This month, we’ll
also highlight the ceramic jewelry offerings of several gallery artists who
offer adornment ranging from delicate to brazen to sensible.
