About
The Boundary Waters is a Minnesota icon, and for good reason! Over a million acres of lakes, streams, and portages have been explored and sparked joy in countless travelers over centuries, from the native Ojibwe to today. Come immerse yourself in this timeless place with a naturalist as your guide.
Your Wolf Ridge guide will meet you at the Sawbill Lake boat landing at the edge of the Boundary Waters north of Tofte.
After introductions and choosing paddles and life jackets, we’ll launch our canoes and head out for adventure! Paddle through several lakes, each with a unique wilderness feel and ambiance. Sawbill is a beautiful lake full of bays and islands and a great place to fish as well! Kelso Lake and the Kelso River are magical, lined with floating bogs full of pitcher plants and frequented by beavers and other wildlife. Alton Lake is lined with the large rock outcrops many people associate with the BWCA. Short, easy portages connect the lakes. It will be a leisurely and memorable day of paddling, exploring, and sharing this special place.
