Pitch a tent or bring your RV for a night of star gazing and, weather permitting, a meteor shower and/or some Northern Lights! A fun event for the whole family with a good chance for once in a lifetime views!

Why this particular night in particular?

The Perseids Meteor Shower (named after the constellation Perseus) is expected to be at peak activity on August 12th-13th, 2023 and The Town of White rates between a 2-3 on the Bortle Scale which measures light pollution and sky visibility!

So bring your telescopes (hope for a cloudless night) and buckle up for a celestial show that you can keep forever.

Cost for Event:

$25.00 per campsite (either RV or tent) – No hookups – includes all event activities$5.00 per person for event activities only with no overnight camping

$15.00 per adult $10.00 per child - Dinner by Sawmill Saloon – Must be prepaid

$8.00 per person - Pancake Breakfast – Must be prepaid

No food tickets will be available at the door for purchase

NO grills or campfires allowed. NO refunds. Must be registered and paid
in advance to attend event.

5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. : Check-in & Set-up Camp (Tents in field, RV’s in parking lot)

6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. : Dinner Provided by Sawmill Saloon – Buffet Style – Paid in Advance

7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. : Children’s Book Presentation – “Star Party” by Consie Powell & Polly Carlson-Voiles

8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. : How Culture Shapes Our Interpretation of Celestial Phenomena Presentation - Lyle Kleusch of Mesabi East Schools

9:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. : Constellations & Deep Space Objects Presentation - Dale Kentoph of Range Astronomy Club

7:30 to 10:30 p.m. : Bouncy House & Basketball in Gym, Documentary Film with Popcorn: Northern Nights, Starry Skies by PBS North

10:30 to Bedtime : Night Sky Viewing through Telescopes – Range Astronomy Club

7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. : Pancake Breakfast (paid in advance)

11:00 a.m. : Check out/Leave
