About

The Charles E. Gagnon Museum & Sculpture Garden opens a series of musical events on July 31 with a classical mini-concert by bassoon player Bailey Holman.

She will perform classical works specially written for the bassoon by Mozart, Vivaldi, and other composers.

The concert is scheduled at 4 p.m. at the outdoor patio on the grounds at the Rochester museum, where sculptor Charles E. Gagnon lived and worked. The event will be held indoors if weather interferes.

Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children over 10 and students to college age. Tickets are only available online and can be purchased at www.gagnonmuseum.org/events. Seats are first-come-first-serve. For patron drop-off, please use the semi-circle driveway in front of the museum. Street parking is available on 4th Street, Highland Court, and 23rd Avenue. See website for more details.

Soloist Holman is studying Music Performance at University of Colorado Boulder. She is spending the summer in Rochester with her family. Holman specializes in bassoon, the four-foot-tall woodwind instrument with tones ranging from bass to tenor. During her concert, she will be accompanied by Rochester pianist Glenna Muir.

The museum’s Concerts in the Garden series will present local student musicians performing different types of music. The next concert on August 28 will feature jazz pianist Kevin Turlington.
