Discovery Days: Sensory Friendly

About

Museums can be overwhelming and overstimulating for anyone.
Join us on Saturday, May 25th for our Sensory Friendly Discovery Days. Our partners have developed their own Sensory Friendly programming and are sharing it with us! Learn about coding robots with PACER Center, experience holding dry ice with Curious Minds, LLC, and make your own egg shaker while exploring other instruments with Twin Cities Music Therapy Services, LLC. Don’t forget to go outside! On our Green Roof, you can play games and participate in Three Rivers Park District activities and spend some time with a variety of therapy animals from North Star Therapy Animals.

Activities and accommodations will include:

- Lowered volume on interactive exhibits
- Dimmed lights throughout the museum
- Additional sensory-aware signage throughout the museum
- Noise-dampening headphones
- Music therapy

All activities are free with museum admission ($10 adults, $8 seniors 62+, $8 ages 12-24, $5 ages 4-12, free for children 3 and under and members of The Bakken Museum). Free parking is available both in the museum's lot on Zenith Avenue South, and on West 36th Street. The Bakken Museum is wheelchair accessible.

Additional information to plan a trip can be found on the museum's Accessibility and Amenities webpage (thebakken.org/accessibility).
