About
FARM is a meditation on the history of Farming in Minnesota. This site-specific, immersive performance will feature sweeping images of historical and modern farm life performed by Carlton students, music, dance, theater and Northfield community performing artists. The production illuminated just a small portion of the history of Minnesota farming and hopes to inspire reflection of the future of farming; the accessibility of fresh food for all Minnesotans and our relationship with farmers in our state. FARM features snippets of Minnesota’s vast history of farm life; hard work, family meals, community celebrations, dangerous storms, dance and play culminating in a music filled ghost grove honoring the past, present and the future of farming in Minnesota. “Each day I go into the fields to see what is growing and what remains to be done. It is always the same thing: nothing is growing, everything needs to be done” The Farmer by W.D. Ehrhart Audiences will be guided to four sites and will be walking and standing throughout the show. The audience will experience sweeping images, poetry, music, dance, community and an appreciation for our MN farming history. Please dress for the weather! The show will go on, rain or shine (except in case of severe weather) Door open at 5:30 show at 7:00 pm. Bring a chair or blanket. Preorder pizza from the farm.
