From the Minneapolis metro, head north on 169 past 494. From 169, head west on West Hayden Lake Road. At the Y in the road, stay left, following the brown “County Park” signs. The trailhead is on the left and the parking lot is on the right.

Head to the trailhead at Elm Creek on Saturday, Feb. 9 for the annual Fatbike Frozen Forty. Racers compete in 40-, 30- or 20-mile endurance fat bike races that offer a great mid-winter challenge on a course composed of 100% groomed singletrack. Feeling extreme? This year there's even a brand new, 100-mile ultra-endurance option for 10 "lucky" racers.
