Sax-Zim Bog
Ferns and clubmosses are an enigmatic part of northern Minnesota’s forests and bogs. Nearly every trail you walk in the Sax-Zim Bog during the summer months has broad diversity of ferns and clubmosses, but have you ever stopped to identify what species you are encountering along the trail? With nearly 40 species of pteridophyte (the group name for ferns, clubmosses, and allies) the Sax-Zim Bog is a greater place to build familiarity with these ancient species. This field trip will hope to shed light on the diversity of this group of plants.
