Glewwe Suffrage Memorial Luncheon

The Glewwe Suffrage Memorial Luncheon will celebrate and honor the 90 women from South St. Paul that became the first in the country to vote after passage of the 19th Amendment. It also recognizes the amazing work done by local historian, Lois Glewwe, to help preserve and share this important history.

All proceeds from this event will go toward the future maintenance of the Lois Glewwe Suffrage Memorial located across the street in Lawshe Park.

On August 27, 1920, 90 women in South St. Paul became the first in the country to vote after ratification of the 19th Amendment. Lois Glewwe spent decades researching and writing the history of South St. Paul, especially when it came to the historic first vote that took place. Registered attendees can enjoy a luncheon that features a garden salad, chicken salad sandwich on croissant, and dessert bars.
