Join us at the Howl at the Moon Gala on October 12, 2023. We promise an evening of engagement, discovery and “howling” good fun!

About the Event

Whether you are a long-time pack member or a lone wolf looking for a community to join­­—come “Rally” with us in St. Paul this October. There will be time to explore the museum, multiple food stations, Planetarium presentations, a “dress-like-a-wolf biologist” photo booth, and a program featuring a live auction. All proceeds from the Gala will go to support the International Wolf Center’s efforts to teach the world about wolves. Thanks to the support of our pack, the International Wolf Center is preparing to launch several new initiatives in the coming year. But to increase our impact, we are going to need our entire community working together to ensure a future for wolves.

This year’s pack rally will also give us an opportunity to celebrate the amazing contributions of our pack “Elder” and founder Dr. L. David Mech as we hear him speak of the people who have inspired him the most over his six-decade career in wolf conservation and research.

Why the Bell Museum of Natural History?

The Museum’s world-renowned dioramas offer the opportunity to learn more about Minnesota wildlife and wild places. From the wolves at Shovel Point to dancing whooping cranes—they provide a unique chance to explore how the plants, animals, and birds that come together to form Minnesota’s biomes. Many of these dioramas were painted by the same artist (Francis Lee Jaques) who inspired the International Wolf Center logo!

Wolf-Gazing on the big screen! The Bell Museum Planetarium will feature special presentations live from the Ely Visitor Center with Wolf Curator Lori Schmidt. Get the chance to meet the newest Wolf Curator Giselle Narvaez Rivera and check in on Grayson, Axel, Rieka, Blackstone and Caz!

What’s for Dinner?

Not dinner exactly but no need to plan a hunt! There will be plenty of opportunity to graze on heavy appetizers and fill bellies at multiple food stations. Whether you are a carnivore or an herbivore, the available food will meet all dietary accommodations. There will be tacos, sliders, mac and cheese, vegetables, and hummus. To ensure an adequate number of items, be sure to select the food option of your preference (vegetarian, vegan, meat-eater, gluten-free, dairy-free). A cash bar will feature a variety of beverages including a signature wolf cocktail. Make it a mocktail if you’d like!

Formal or Flannel? Half-Fancy.

You decide. Some of us consider dress codes and think dresses and suits, others will prefer sweaters and cargo pants. Choose your fancy. The only thing we insist upon is that you wear a color in one of the fifty shades of Gray Wolf.
