About
Join the American Swedish Institute and the Iraqi and American Reconciliation Project for a summer evening of cultural exchange on the ASI lawn! Listen to Iraqi and Swedish musical performances by award-winning violinist, composer and singer Layth Sidiq, as well as nyckelharpa player Renee Vaughan. Try your hand at games like kubb and tawleh, learn a dance or two, or make a craft like a cuneiform clay tablet or Arabic calligraphy. Sample some classic Swedish pastries and Iraqi desserts like baklava, znod alsit, and mushabak. Refreshments will also include coffee and Iraqi tea, a delicious heavy brew of black tea served with sugar and flavored with cardamom. Attendees can take a break from the action to visit the ASI Turnblad Mansion which will be open during the event.
