About

The Puppet Pageant is an annual, original large-scale street theater play based on stories from the Finnish national epic poem, the Kalevala.  This annual community theater program brings people together to learn a wide variety of artistic skills including acting, stilt-walking, Finnish culture and heritage, and make connections with fellow community members and artists.

After two weeks of workshops creating puppets, props, and costumes, practicing stilt-walking, and learning theater skills, community members perform this play first at the Community Corn Feed held on Friday, August 19 at 7pm (Corn Feed begins at 4pm) at the New York Mills VFW Post 3289; and second at the Finn Creek Summer Festival on Saturday August 20 @ noon at Finn Creek Open Air Museum.
