About

Lumina will perform "The Veil and the Thorn: Music for Lent" on Sunday, March 31 at 7 pm at St. Paul's United Church of Christ. The repertoire explores this season of contemplation, simplicity, and repentance, and re-envisions it through the eyes of Mary. With music spanning centuries, from Kassia (ca. 810-867) - the earliest woman for whom we have preserved music - to Patty Griffin (b. 1964). A few big names make the list too: Bach, Tomkins, Di Lasso, Durufle, Rutter, Vaughan-Williams, and Ippolitov-Ivanov.

Founded in 2014 by Artistic Director Linda Kachelmeier, Lumina is a professional women's ensemble dedicated to the mystery, beauty, and hope inherent in music. Vocalists Kachelmeier, Clara Osowski, and Angela Grundstadt will be joined by special guest Laura Sewell on cello.
