Mendota After Hours: Gunflint Burning-Fire in the Boundary Waters

About

Join the Dakota County Historical Society and the Sibley Historic Site for October's Mendota After Hours!

The Ham Lake fire of 2007 was the largest wildfire in Minnesota in nearly 100 years. It was also the most expensive, destroying more than 170 buildings at the end of the Gunflint Trail. Gunflint Burning chronicles how the fire began, and how professional and volunteer firefighters came together to fight the blaze, which took nearly 13 days to extinguish.

The presentation is offered by Cary Griffith, author of three non-fiction books and three novels. His non-fiction includes Lost in the Wild, Opening Goliath, and Gunflint Burning. His novels include Wolf Kill, Cougar Claw, and his upcoming novel, Killing Monarchs, which will be published in June 2023.To guarantee your spot, you can register at https://dakotahistory.org/events/954-oct-13-mendota-after-hours-gunflint-burning-fire-in-the-boundar....
