Mendota After Hours: Voyageurs of the Fur Trade

About

Join the Dakota County Historical Society and the Sibley Historic Site for September's Mendota After Hours!

The Fur Trade, which was North America's first major industry, would have been largely unsuccessful without the Voyageur. This presentation will cover what the day to day life of a Voyageur would have looked like, where they came from, and their lasting impact on Minnesota. The presentation will be given by Jack Nord, Site Supervisor for the Sibley Historic Site. Jack joined the Sibley Site in April 2022 and has spent much of his time exploring the site's history, as well as the various roles people played in the fur trade. He created a Voyageur history trunk that has been popular amongst school groups and classroom presentations.

Space is limited, so please register at https://dakotahistory.org/events/980-sep-29-mendota-after-hours-voyageurs-of-the-fur-trade-at-sibley. This is being offered as an in-person event.
