Mendota After Hours: When Minnehaha Flowed with Whiskey

About

Join the Dakota County Historical Society and the Sibley Historic Site for June's Mendota After Hours!

There was a time when Minnehaha Falls was privately owned and it became a site of rowdyism, drunkenness, and mayhem that offended the upright and moral citizens of Minneapolis. Once the falls were included in the new Minnehaha Park, the rowdyism continued just outside the border. Prostitution, lewd dancing, and drunken behavior made Minnehaha a scene of scandal.

Author Karen E Cooper will share this forgotten story that has been unearthed and told through her book, "When Minnehaha Flowed with Whiskey: A Spirited History of the Falls." She will share additional images and tell the story of a time when Minnehaha Park was not family friendly. To guarantee your spot, you can register below.
