Mind Over Matter Charity Golf Classic
About
Two-Day Event at Wayzata Country Club Benefits Brain Tumor Research
Join us July 14th and 15th for the Minnesota's premier golf event which, in just three years, has donated 1.6 million dollars to the Givens Brain Tumor Center at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. This year alone an estimated 86,970 people will learn they have a brain tumor. The average survival rate for all malignant brain tumors is only 35%.
While the statistics are daunting, the need for research is clear. Thanks to funding, a total of 11 neuro-oncology research projects were conducted at the Givens Brain Tumor center in 2018, including 7 treatment trials, focused mainly around immunotherapy, gene therapy and personalized medicine. The mission of the Mind Over Matter Golf Classic is to support this necessary research and treatment for patients currently being treated for brain cancer.
Mind Over Matter was founded by Mike and Linda Givens and they driving force behind the donation of more than $10+ million to different charities around the country over the past 20+ years. Mike lost his battle with brain cancer in 2015, yet his legacy lives on forever through their foundation with the help of his children, Michael and Megan.
