About
TCB’s annual production of A Minnesota Nutcracker has been a beloved holiday tradition in the South Metro since its inaugural performances in 2003, and is attended by over six thousand audience members in the course of a single weekend each year.
Featuring spectacular dancing and original choreography, A Minnesota Nutcracker retains all the magic and familiar traditions loved by so many, but adds local flair with Minnesota settings and custom designed Minnesota-centric backdrops.
This year’s A Minnesota Nutcracker will delight audiences with brand-new costumes and choreography that capture and celebrate iconic Minnesota history, characters and landscapes:
-
Nodding to Minnesota’s Indigenous peoples, audiences will also be treated to the haunting, ethereal sound of a traditional hand-carved wooden flute, seamlessly woven into Tchaikovsky's Mirliton music by local musician Mark Woerpel, for the premiere of this year's enchanting new Dance of the Loons.
-
The stunning traditional Flower Queen is transformed into Minnesota's state flower, the elusive and beautiful Lady Slipper.
-
And Norse explorers–legendary Vikings–will make their powerful and dramatic debut to enhance the ballet’s energetic Trepak music.
