Developed by the Twin Cities Japanese American Citizens League, visitors will see more than a dozen panels featuring photographs that share the history of the Military Intelligence Service Language School (MISLS), known as America's secret weapon against Japan during WWII. The display features narratives and photos—ranging from famous images to personal family pictures.
Photos show students at Camp Savage and Fort Snelling as well as graduates deployed to the Pacific. Nearly 6,000 Japanese American servicemen attended the MISLS, most as an alternative to incarceration in War Relocation Authority camps.
Photos will be on display June 15-Sept. 2, 2019.
