The St. Louis County Historical Society, in partnership with the Depot Foundation, the 1854 Treaty Authority, Bois Forte Tribal Council, and Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa presents Native American Heritage Day. November is nationally recognized as Native American Heritage Month and this event will seek to celebrate local Ojibwe history, art, and culture. The event will include Cedar Creek Drum Group, cultural speakers, traditional foods, children’s story time and crafts as well as Patriot Nations: Native Americans in Our Nation’s Armed Forces.
Tentative Schedule:
11:00 am- Opening/Welcome
11:15 to 11:40- video “Rendezvous with History- A Grand Portage Story”
11:40- Start serving food and Local Veteran’s slide show is playing
12:00 to 1:30- Cultural talk with Michele Hakala-Beeksma
1:30 to 2:00- video -Sandy Lake Tragedy
2:15 – Closing Drum
