Welcome Featured Instructor Karin Flatoy Svarstad of Kalvag, Norway
We're expecting that Featured Guest Instructor and wool expert Karin Flatoy Svarstad of Kalvag, Norway should have no problem knowing what to pack for her visit to Northern Minnesota in February. Lots of wool! Karin has been researching and working with the wool of the North Atlantic Sea for more than forty years. She focuses on the native sheep of the area dispersed throughout Norway, Shetland, Orkney, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Greenland, the Outer Hebrides and the Isle of Man during the Viking Era. During her visit over the Northern Fibers Retreat, she will teach two courses in felting: Felting Exploration: Sculptural Felting and Felting: Creative Hats & Bags. Karin will give a public talk in the evening on Saturday, February 16.
