This project emphasizes environmental awareness and artistic excellence, highlighting the beauty and significance of local avian species.
Winona Arts Center is pleased to present Climate Sensitive Birds of Southeast Minnesota, an exhibition featuring the work of Barbara Schwenk. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science in Fine Art and serves as the art competition coordinator and consulting board member for the Med City Art Festival in Rochester.
Barbara’s deep interest in birds inspired this project. Her paintings focus on raising awareness about climate-sensitive birds. She has selected ten birds from southeast Minnesota that are familiar to the audience.
This event marks the third Sunday of our Seven Sundays: WAC Art & Music 2026 series at WAC and features a live musical performance by Brian Ebbinger from 2pm-3:30pm.
Seven Sundays: WAC Art & Music 2026 is an arts and music series during 2026 where a musical performance will be paired with each newly hung visual art exhibit. All seven events are free.
