Featured locations include He Mni Can-Barn Bluff, Memorial park, various locations along Main Street, West End District, historic neighborhoods, river overlooks, the train depot and various trails. The best time of day to locate painters is early morning and early evening.
This weeklong festival includes highlighted art projects at the Red Wing Arts locations (Red Wing Train Depot and the new Clay and Creative Center on 3rd St)
Artist travel to our community from around the region to paint “recognizable” Red Wing and participate in various art festivals.
Plein Air is a study of how light and shadow interact with things, creating a snapshot of one moment in time that can never be repeated. En Plein Air, meaning approximately “open air” in French.
The annual exhibit includes over 100 works that are judged and hung in the Depot Gallery. Participating artists will compete for various cash prizes.
