Lets RELAY! The Lyon County Relay for Life Event is Thursday August 18th. In partnership with Sounds of Summer & The City of Marshall's 150th Anniversary - Relay for Life will kick off the festivities!
The pandemic had a devastating impact on life-saving cancer screening rates, which dropped by 90% for some cancers. Relay plays a vital part of reminding millions of people that timely screenings help catch cancer when it’s most treatable as well as supporting research and other services.
5:00 p.m. The fun begins!
- 5-6:30 Jimmy’s Chili cook-off, with prizes for people’s choice and judge’s favorite

- 5-9 Trivia hosted by City Hall Bar & Grill in Minneota
- 5-9 Scotty Biggs BBQ truck
- 5-9 Lingen Dairy Ice Cream Truck
- 5-9 Brau Brothers soda and beer garden
- 5-6:30 Dan Donner (FYI for the radio, pronounced Dunner) classical jazz guitarist live music
- 5-6:20 Survivor Registration
- Registration will be to pick up meal tickets and register for a shirt to be sent to them later. If they would like a shirt in advance, they need to register on our website: Relay.org/LyonCountyMN
- 5-9 Photo booth hosted by Downtown Sound Entertainment
- 5-9 Kid Zone with face painting and gift bags
6:20 p.m. Survivor Photo
- All survivors present will be invited to the stage for a photo before we begin the ceremony
6:30 p.m. Opening Ceremony
- Opening prayer by Pastor Anne Veldhuisen
- Sponsorship remarks from Jessica Moriarty at Avera and Curt Schake from North Star Mutual
- Honorary survivor Michael Weiss
- Live Auction by Deutz Auctioneers
- Vikings tickets for either the preseason 49ers game, or a number of other regular season games
- Quilt by Lori Head
- 2 mystery boxes with donated items
- If businesses or individuals would like to donate something for the mystery boxes, they can contact me or another member of the planning committee
- Listing of Survivors and Survivor lap
7:00 p.m.
- Fun resumes, and people can continue to walk the track throughout the evening
- 7-9 Downtown Sound Entertainment DJ services
8:30 p.m. Closing Ceremony and Candlelit Lap
