Roger Boulay Exhibit

About

Opening Reception for Periphery by Roger Boulay
Friday, Nov. 8th
6 - 8 PM
Free and open to the public.

Roger Boulay presents new photographs of defunct and re-purposed US military sites that ask questions about how place can have a memory. Many of these sites were previously or are currently environmental disasters. Soil and water are contaminated. Exposed asbestos remains in existing structures. In discovering this frequent common characteristic, the work holds an inherent critique of how our institutions treat the land. Within these sites, Boulay has also staged reenactments of speeches and battles or of mundane chores and daily activities thus evoking history among the ruins.

ROOTED: Southeastern Minnesota Exhibition Program
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
