About
Groveland Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Root Down, an exhibit of new work by Amy Rice. Rice is a Minneapolis mixed media artist who has had group and solo exhibitions in galleries throughout the US, Canada, and in the UK. She has received multiple grants and commissions, including a Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant, a Metropolitan Regional Arts Board Next Step Grant, and most recently in 2017, a completed commission for Augsburg University in St Paul.
Amy Rice's artwork presents wildlife at its fullest. Her affection for the outdoors manifests itself in vibrant reds, yellows, purples, blues and greens - from rolling fields of flowers ready to be gathered to isolated flora depicted stem, root, and all. Having studied the anatomy of flowers and invested time into growing her own, Rice's work is both a study and celebration of her wild subjects.
The artist will be present at the opening reception Saturday, December 1 from 12-5 pm. The opening reception and exhibition runs concurrently with the group show Sense of Place featuring 11 artists. Both shows continue through January 19, 2019. For more information please call 612-377-7800 or visit www.grovelandgallery.com.
