A sonic feast: experience stirring, melodic works for wind
octet and string orchestra. A meditative chamber work by Arvo Pärt highlights
the SPCO winds, evoking an almost trance-like spirit before the strings join
for Igor Stravinsky’s lilting, picturesque Apollon musagète, Ballet in
Two Scenes. Ludwig van Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, a cornerstone of orchestral
music, builds on the energy of the first half of the program, delivering
triumphant bursts and rich harmonies.

SPCO x University of
Minnesota Collaboration

During the concert on
Sunday, November 3, students from the University of Minnesota’s School of Music
will perform side-by-side with the SPCO on the fourth movement of Beethoven's
Symphony No. 5 at Ted Mann Concert Hall. As with all regular SPCO performances,
