Something Old and Something new

About

It's like we are getting married - something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. Lakes Area Radio Theatre is recording a classic Johnny Dollar and some new from Pittsburgh playwright Richard Krepski.

PATINA,
PROVENANCE, AND PANDORA’S BOX

 By Richard Krepski

This parody of Antiques Roadshow is
alternately comical, historical, poignant, and surreal, with some vignettes having
a strong connection to St. Cloud (Pan Motor Company, Jane Grey
Swisshelm.) Other appraisals include an unfortunate encounter with some
top-heavy Tiffany lamps, discovery of a quilt made from 1950s New York Yankees
uniforms, and evaluations of “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” the magic mirror
from Snow White, and a very old box once 8 owned by a lady named Pandora.

Richard Krepski is retired from a 30-year career as research scientist and educator. He currently resides in the twilight zone between scientific rationalism and poetic lunacy. His audio play “The Kraken of Phoenicia,” a mash-up of Shakespeare, Godzilla, and “Clash of the Titans,” won a first-place award at the 2019 Moondance International Film Festival in the category of radio scripts. His other writing, including short stories, poetry, and essays, has appeared in Mad Scientist Journal, Oberon, Soul-Lit, Fickle Muses, Still Crazy, Braided Way, Parody, and Tiferet—A Journal of Spiritual Literature. Krepski's essay "Center of the Universe" was awarded the Tiferet writing prize for 2009. Further details on his work can be found at substance-to-spirit.com
