About

The Pasty Festival is a celebration of our rich Iron Range mining and cultural history and food traditions, a fun community event for all ages, and a benefit for the Iron Range Partnership for Sustainability. We are honoring the lunch pail staple that fed iron miners of the past and raising funds for a variety of community projects to support local food and sustainability efforts on the Range. The festival will sell both pasty meals and frozen pasties made by IRPS using all locally grown ingredients: beef, pork, potatoes, onions, carrots and rutabagas. Even the lard in the crust will be local. The event will be family-friendly and educational with a history exhibits, a family scavenger hunt, rutabaga bowling, make-and-take Mrs. Rutabaga Head workshop, and live music by Sara Softich and Friends. Dine in or take out!

All happening at Mt. Iron Community Center off Hwy 169 in Mt. Iron. More information on the Pasty Festival is available on the IRPS website at www.irpsmn.org and our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/IronRangePartnershipForSustainability/
