5-4-3-2-1 Blast Off! The highly anticipated launch of the James Webb Space Telescope is almost here. To gear up and get ready for the launch, our planetarium team will dig into the science and engineering of the Webb while we enjoy views of the sky through our own, ground-based, telescopes. Webb is scheduled to launch no earlier than Oct 31, 2021.
Mission Goals:
- Search for the first galaxies formed after the Big Bang
- Find out how galaxies evolve
- Observe the formation of stars and planetary systems
- Measure and investigate the potential for life in planetary systems, including our own
