Welcoming Week in Willmar

About

Welcoming Week in Willmar
Saturday, Sept. 14th, 2024 from 2-6pm
Corner of 6th St SW & Litchfield Ave SW
Next to City Office and the City Auditorium

This year, Willmar Welcoming Week is a call to come together as individuals and groups – to celebrate our strengths and differences – and recognize that we’re at our best when We’re All In. Welcoming Week is on a journey to build a community that’s “all in” on valuing diverse perspectives, backgrounds, experiences, and cultures.

This free event welcomes all community members to learn about and celebrate our diverse population and create and sense of belonging to all.

A variety of exhibitors will provide welcoming resources to raise awareness and educate both long-term and new residents about the different services our community offers.

We are partnering with many local organizations to make sure we create a sense of belonging in our community that exceeds race and heritage. We recognize there are community members eager for a sense of belonging and to find a welcoming place in our city.

Highlights of Welcoming Week:
Cultural Performances: Experience the vibrant traditions and talents of our community members.
Free Food Samples: Savor delicious dishes from around the world while supplies last. Also, there will be food trucks selling some treats.
Community Resources: Join hands with fellow community members to make a positive impact and learn about different organizations serving our community!

About Welcoming America: Since 2012, Welcoming Week has served as the annual campaign and celebration led by Welcoming America to showcase the growing movement of communities striving to be more welcoming places for all, including immigrants. By fostering mutual respect and cooperation between new and long-time residents, Welcoming Week brings together people across lines of difference toward greater prosperity for all.
