About
Winona State University will host several Observatory Public Nights this fall in the WSU Observatory, located on the roof of Minné Hall. These events are free and open to the public.Attendees will have the opportunity to view planets like Saturn and Venus, along with the Moon, and a possibility of spotting Mercury early in the evening. Deep sky objects such as the Andromeda Galaxy, the Ring Nebula, and the Hercules Star Cluster may also be visible.
- Wear sturdy shoes and clothes suitable for climbing, as attendees will need to navigate both stairs and a ladder.
- Dress warmly, as it can be cold and windy on the roof.
- Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
- The event will be canceled if weather conditions are not suitable for night-sky viewing.
The WSU Observatory is maintained and operated by the Geoscience Department and is further supported by the College of Science & Engineering and the WSU Foundation. For more information, contact Dr. Jennifer L.B. Anderson at [email protected].
