Minneapolis-St. Paul's Best Indoor Playgrounds

Minneapolis, St. Paul and all their surrounding suburbs have no shortage of indoor playgrounds to get some wiggles out throughout the winter. Here are 12 of our favorites. For current entrance fees, private party options and hours, please see each playground’s official website.

BACKYARD INDOOR PLAYGROUND            
GOLDEN VALLEY

Recommended Ages: 2-12

Backyard Indoor Playground is located in the Brookview Community Center, which also houses a golf course and Three One Six Bar and Grill. This large playground has multiple levels, tall tube slides, tunnels, and a large wave slide where kids can race with their friends. You’ll also find plenty of foam cubes for stacking, which all the kids love. There’s a small area for kids ages 2-5 with slides, tunnels and climbing as well.

CHOO CHOO BOB’S TRAIN STORE         
ST. PAUL

Recommended Ages: 0-10

Choo Choo Bob’s is located in Union Depot and is the perfect indoor activity for train-obsessed kids. Here, you’ll find numerous wooden train tables to build your own trains, tracks and cities. There’s also a bounce house, giant building blocks, car tracks with cars, and little trains to ride around. The bubble machine is always a hit, along with the on-site shop with all sorts of train goodies. Make sure to check out weekly events like storytime and live music.

Eagles Nest Indoor Playground

EAGLES NEST INDOOR PLAYGROUND        
NEW BRIGHTON

Recommended Ages: 0-12 

Eagles Nest is located in the New Brighton Community Center. The large play structure features a fully lit, 28-foot-tall web climbing tower, a huge interactive projector slide, a hanging foam forest, a wave slide, a tightrope walk, climbing walls, and playground spinners. There’s also a gated area for kids 3 and under with fun-shaped climbing structures, slides, a merry-go-round and tunnels.

Edinborough Park in Edina

EDINBOROUGH PARK

Recommended Ages: 1-12 

There’s a reason why Edinborough Park is one of the largest, most popular indoor playgrounds in the Twin Cities. The big draw here is Adventure Peak, a 44x44x37 foot structure for climbing, sliding and crawling. You’ll also find a gym with scooters, bikes, basketball, and a bounce house for open play. There’s even a separate gated area for kids 4 and under with slides, climbing equipment, fun lights and music features. Don’t miss the cafe for food and snacks!

Good Times Park in Eagan

GOOD TIMES PARK

Recommended Ages: 0-17 

Good Times Park is self-supervised, meaning no employees are usually on-site. You must purchase your tickets in advance and use a one-time door code to get inside. This indoor playground has 25,000 square feet to play in, including multiple play areas with climbing structures and slides, playground spinners, a giant bounce pillow, a ninja course, a basketball court, a soccer field, and more! There’s space to bring your own food and eat, along with designated play spaces for younger kids to enjoy.

The Kids Ultimate Backyard Experience (K.U.B.E.) is located in the Plymouth Community Center. It’s one of the newest playgrounds on this list and features a 28-foot-tall, netted climbing tower, merry-go-round, swing and large play structure with ramps and slides. Kids are easily visible from all areas, which is a plus. There’s also an area with smaller play structures and a playhouse for younger kids.

Recommended Ages: 1-17 

Playground Plaza is a staff-less playground that requires advanced online tickets. (Much like at Good Times Park, you receive a door code in a confirmation email.) This playground is open 365 days a year and has a giant inflated bounce pad, light-up peg wall, big building blocks, an open turf space with balls and hula hoops, and multiple playgrounds — one for older kids, and one for younger kids. There’s a large area with tables and chairs to eat your own food, and a fun bubble hockey game to play.

RAINBOW MIDWEST 
BLOOMINGTON

Recommended Ages: 1-12 

Rainbow Midwest is full of swing sets and serves as a showroom for the company Minnesotan Greg Foster founded in his parent’s garage when he was just 18. The pay-to-play playground is only open Mondays through Fridays, as the weekends are reserved for parties. Kids can play on slides, tire swings, rock walls, and even a play set that looks like a ship. There’s a basketball court for shooting hoops as well. An eating area is available, along with a few small kid features — like a baby swing!

THE BLAST
EAGAN

Recommended Ages: 1-10 

The Blast is space-themed and located in the Eagan Community Center. Here you will find large climbing structures, tunnels and slides — perfect for the kid who loves outer space, as you can climb up a huge rocket ship! The majority of the play space is geared towards kids ages 4-10 with lots of tunnels and climbing, but there are a few features for younger kids, like a small climbing structure and slide.

The Little Village in Cottage Grove

THE LITTLE VILLAGE
COTTAGE GROVE

Recommended Ages: 0-10 

The Little Village is a play studio geared towards younger kids. The best part is the coffee shop and boutique, with areas for adults to hang out while they watch their kids. The large turf area includes a pretend kitchen and vet clinic, a climbing structure and slide, and lots of activities for stacking and building for open-ended play. There’s an outdoor space as well, and they offer essential themed art projects each week.

THE PLAY GROUP
MINNEAPOLIS

Recommended Ages: 0-4 

The Play Group is right on the border of Minneapolis and St. Louis Park and is geared toward younger kids. This play space features Montessori-inspired play areas like a little kitchen and other rooms in a house, sensory tables, small climbing structures and slides, a reading nook, and even a space for babies. They also have fun events and classes. There’s a separate area to eat if you bring your own food, free water, and nice bathrooms with a separate quiet area and nursing room.

The Williston Treehouse

Recommended Ages: 0-12 

The Williston Treehouse is located in the Williston Fitness Center in Minnetonka. This large play structure features a huge “tree” kids can climb up, a belt bridge to cross, lots of tunnels, and even a large wave slide. You’ll find a small area for younger kids here as well with little slides, climbing structures, and tic tac toe! Located right next to the playground is an area with tables and chairs to rest up or have a snack.
