Barnesville Main Street Program

About

Barnesville is located 23 miles east of Fargo-Moorhead, or 210 miles northwest of Minneapolis-St. Paul. There are over 2,600 residents who are proud to call Barnesville home. Located on the edge of the Red River Valley, the city is surrounded by beautiful terrain including flat fields, rolling hills, creeks and lakes. Barnesville also is home to Blue Eagle Lake that has a public swimming beach and docks for fishing. The city is a great place for recreation with 13 parks, public splash pad, walking & biking paths and a 9-hole golf course.

The Barnesville community is second to none when it comes to fun for the whole family. Besides the annual Potato Days Festival in August and the Clay County Fair in July, there is always an event happening in Barnesville. The community calendar is full with everything from sporting events to pancake breakfasts, golf tournaments to city-wide rummage sales. There also have annual events such as Showcase, Show ‘n Shine car shows, a Community Picnic and Breakfast with Santa.

Barnesville has everything one needs to thrive including medical, dental, optometry, banking, grocery, retail, fuel and more. The business sector, as well as city services of fire, police, ambulance, library and public works, help make this community a quality place to live and work. For a town our size, it is also amazing to say we have a business headquartered here that is on the Inc. 5000. list. Barnesville is also unique in which the city owns all of the utilities.

Whether you are a resident or visitor, you will love all that Barnesville has to offer!
